On the basis of Tris-HCl buffers, EDTA and guanidine salts are

added, acting as the protein deformers and nuclease inhibitors,

making the virus inactive. But this does not affect the integrity of

the viral nucleic acid. This facilitates the extraction of nucleic

acid and analysis for the subsequent samples,which is safer during inspection and transitbut not suitable for isolated cultivation.
